Tree Autopsy: An Arborist’s Version of CSI
On October 6, Independent Tree hosted the Ohio Independent Arborist Association's "Tree Autopsy" workshop, where we learned more about tree biology, factors affecting the structural integrity of trees and how to evaluate the soundness of a tree.
The unique feature of this workshop was the "autopsy" - tree samples were sawn into "books" to open and examine. Dissecting trees this way gives you a good understanding of how what you see on the outside relates to what's going on inside the tree. Plus, it looks really cool!
Following the workshop, everyone was invited to join us for a hog roast and potluck dinner, with plenty of marshmallows to toast over the bonfire.
